...四篇論文扣合專輯主題的提問，無論是探討早期中國戲劇面向歐洲或日本的域外傳播、翻譯與改編，或臺灣當代戲曲吸收西方戲劇之傳譯與改編的質變，皆展示了中國戲劇跨越時代、地域、文化時，如何被「他者」所理解、吸收、轉化，以及自身如何吸納域外文化，並於文本、劇場、表演藝術上不斷改變與更新的狀態。本專輯並不刻意以「跨文化」為方法，冀望更多地考量翻譯與改編的樣態與內涵，從文本細讀、版本考證與脈絡耙梳發端；然則，跨文化研究的視野已隱於其中。
